Tipper Lite 2009 Part 1 looked at the 3.5-tonne sector. This time, we turn our attention to the bigger four-wheelers, at 7.5 and 18 tonnes, putting them to the test both on and off the road.
The test was first published in Commercial Motor, 7 May 2009.
"It is difficult to find things not to like about the Isuzu Forward 7.5-tonner – to use a very ‘untransport-like’ term, this is one charming truck..."
"Loaded to its maximum GVW, the 4.6-litre 180PS engine was more than adequate, lugging down deeply on the hills and pulling away from as low as 1,100rpm..."
"Climbing into the Iveco Eurocargo cab, you do experience that ‘big truck feel’, with a clear view all around, large mirrors and a comfortable driving position..."
"Big MANs always feel as though they are hewn from solid ingots of raw truck, and the smaller TGM is no different..."
"With a generous 280 rating, the FLH certainly never felt lacking in outright power and handled the test route with ease..."
